THEME PARK ADVENTURE: Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Water Park

SIX FLAGS HURRICANE HARBOR WATER PARK was formerly known as Island Kingdom until 2003. It is a chain of water parks that is part of the Six Flags amusement park chains. This water park in St. Louis was the first to construct its own water park section, soon other Six Flags amusement parks constructed their own version of Hurricane Harbor.

This is the TORNADO. First, you have to go up 75 feet above the ground then with a clover-shaped raft, you would slide down into a tunnel then into a giant funnel which spins you around its 60 foot diameter. Splash through a waterfall for a wet and wild finale! The Tornado cycles 5,000 gallons of water in a minute. Wow! I definitely want to try this!!! Looks really cool!

The WAHOO RACER just opened last May 23, 2009. It is a 262 feet slide with drops and rolls up to a speed of 35 mph. You have to get a mat and you can race off with 5 of your friends and see who gets down the 3 drops! I'm ready for this!!!

They have several other slides in the water park:
  • BIG KAHUNA - Get whisked away on a raft with four of your friends down to a six-story snake-like course!
  • GULLEY WASHER CREEK - Relax on a 1,100 foot lazy river with waterfalls and beautiful tropical lanscaping!
  • SPEED SLIDES - Zoom your way down three 6-story, high speed body slides. There are 2 enclosed slides, one 64 foot free-fall slide and some body twisting slides!
  • HURRICANE BAY - Here you can ride the 4 foot rolling wave or just swim in the 30,000 square foot pool overlooking the 80 foot tall steaming volcano.
  • HOOK'S LAGOON - This is an interactive water play area for the whole family! You can enjoy a five-story tree house, water gadgets, spray, funnels, and a pirate ship!
  • TUBE SLIDES - It is a 5-story structure, 400 ft slides with spirals and corkscrews!

I would definitely enjoy this water park! I would love to try all the water slides they have! Number one and two on my list is the Tornado and the Wahoo Racer! I can't wait to try them out!
